Our History

The idea appears the day after Carlos pops the question to Maeva, in May 2006.

 
Right in the middle of their wedding preparation, Maeva and Carlos look for ideas for presents to offer their guests. Carlos is from Spain, and Maeva is from France: they wanted a present that could mix both cultures. In addition, they were searching for a present that will have an utility after the wedding. Two families work hard to find the best idea!

Then, like magic, the idea of an artistic fan comes to the head of Carlos's mum. Now we just needed to find the color, the size, the style... The wedding theme was the lavender, and the color chosen was therefore the violet. Having decided this, Maeva begins working hard painting around 200 fans that will be distributed in the entrance of the Saint-Paul-de-Vence church, Maeva's home town. The utility of this present was very appreciated by the guests during the ceremony, and the quality and beauty of the fan remain the topic of many conversations, as most of their guests still keep it at home in a visible place.

After two years Maeva and Carlos decide to launch “Art et Vent”, meaning "Art and Wind" in English. This name embraces the feeling of single piece of art, and the utility of a fan. The idea consists on giving the flavor of France through flowers and villages hand-painted in a fan.

 
Maeva, who has grown in an artistic environment since she was born, as her parents own a gallery in Saint Paul--Tholance gallery--creates several collections with lavenders, flowers and typical villages from the French Riviera. She begins selling her art in the shop and gallery called Près du Puits, in Saint Paul de Vence.

Her art received such a success that Maeva and Carlos decided to open an online shop in 2010, here at www.artetvent.com.
